Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) is the oldest and largest of the Spanish Technical Universities. UPM currently has more than 3000 faculty members, around 38.000 undergraduate students, and around 6.000 postgraduate students. UPM’s Schools cover most Engineering disciplines. The UPM has more than 200 Research Units and several Research Institutes and Technological Centres in the areas such as Architecture, Solar Energy, Opto-electronics and Micro-electronics, Domotics, Biotechnology, among others. The UPM has participated in around 200 European R&D projects over the past four years, including 19 Networks of Excellence, and is member of 10 European Technology Platforms.

CeDInt-UPM is a Research Centre on Domotics, with a multi-disciplinary approach, make up by university professors and researchers of the Telecommunications Engineering and Computer Science fields. CeDInt research lines deal with the development of new communications, electronic and optics systems for buildings and with the improvement of energy supply. CeDInt R&D activities are directed toward the achievement of the best comfort conditions in buildings, the optimization of energy consumption, the design of systems to encourage energy saving, and the development of new added value services.
