ACCIONA is a major business group in Europe (sales of about 6,2 billion Euros). Its entire activity is based on sustainability values, contributing to the wellbeing of society and environmental balance, across the range of its lines of business: Infrastructures, Renewable Energies, Real State, Logistics and Transport, Urban and Environmental Services.
ACCIONA has an active role in European Technology Platforms: it is part of the High-Level Group of the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP) and pro-actively participates in various other platforms: Solar-Thermal, SUSCHEM, PV and Hydrogen and Fuel Cell. ACCIONA is also a relevant member of the Inter-ETPs initiative, to promote a joint co-operation among the different platforms, in particular projects related to the launching of “lead market” initiative on eco-efficiency. ACCIONA co-leads a Joint Technology Initiative on Energy Efficient Buildings (JTI E2B) and also a core member of the Smart Energy Home (SEH) initiative from the SusChem ETP. In addition, ACCIONA is a member of other European associations such as: ECCREDI - European Council for Construction Research, Development and Innovation and ENCORD - The European Network of Construction Companies for Research and Development.
ACCIONA´s Technological Centre is composed by 120 high qualified and multinational staff (civil, mechanical, telecommunication and electronic engineers, computer science, architects, biologists, physicists, chemists, economists, lawyers, etc.), who are currently involved in the development of more than 30 R&D projects with the support of other staff from the engineering and production units. The main research areas are: Energy Efficiency and Environment, Nanotechnologies, Advanced construction materials, Products and Systems and ICT, for building and civil infrastructures. As research infrastructure, ACCIONA has about 1000m2 with several laboratories related with the research areas above. It has extensive experience 5th and 6th Framework Programme, Eureka and National Research Programmes projects and participates in several standardisation committees at European and national levels.
